Fit Heart, Healthy Heart

As a muscle, the heart must get a workout, so that it stays fit and functions properly, just like the rest of your body. Without that, you stand a greater risk of developing heart disease. In order to obtain maintain a healthy heart, treadmill or other aerobic exercise on a regular basis is recommended. To reap the most health benefits, exercise for a total of a half hour to an hour daily. You could split it up 10 minute increments of exercise 3-6 times throughout the day, or do half in the morning and the other after dinner, or even a half hour at one set time in the day, however you prefer. Swimming, bike riding, and sports are fun for people of all ages-you are never too young to take good care of your heart. Treadmill walking, running, or jogging is another great way teens and adults can still get exercise, even in inclement weather. Unlike aerobics or exercise classes, you do not need to have an instructor, personal trainer, or be around a group of other people when using a treadmill. You can workout from the comfort of your own home, any time, and at your own pace. You do not need to spend any money on additional equipment, and there are models available that fold up easily for storage purposes.

Consult with your doctor before starting a fitness routine. When you do start exercising, start out slowly, gradually increasing the amount of exercise each time, or else you will push yourself too hard too fast and suffer from unnecessary pains. Overall, it is your body's rate of activity that is important-do not be too concerned with your body weight, as that will take care of itself in time if you are diligent about staying fit.
