Treadmill Ratings: Are They For Real?

September 10, 2008 by Andy

Reviews and ratings of treadmills can be deceiving. Categories of rating treadmills follow under various included features such as speed, noise, construction and console programming.
As a consumer, be aware of your budget as most of the best rated treadmills will focus on high end models that are marketed for home use. These prices can be as high as $5,000. This range of treadmills can most likely withstand daily exercise from a languid, slow walker as well as a rigorous runner, whereas the lower end priced (and rated) treadmills may not be able to handle the wear and tear as well.

The best rated treadmills in stores have a variety of features, including elevation, programmable workouts, pulse sensors, and some may even feature complete computer consoles. Ratings on treadmills often may include a note on the running deck–whether it is has a smooth, cushioning feel, or a tough, hard surface impact on a user’s feet.

Comfort in a heavy workout is something to watch when rating treadmills. But more importantly, read the reviews and ratings of treadmills you like, then try out that treadmill at the store and see if it gives you the stable, comfortable walk or run that fits your needs.

But while cheaper, lower end models have some of the same features as the higher end rated treadmills, it is important to note the durability of the treadmill. Higher end treadmills may have warranties that last from ten years to lifetime warranties when the lower rated treadmills do not. In other words, durability is of utmost importance when reviewing ratings on treadmills, especially when even the lower end treadmills aren’t dirt cheap.

Reading Treadmill Reviews

Home treadmill reviews from consumers are widely available for several types of treadmills on the market via the Internet, ranging from the best, to worst, to most expensive, least expensive, and more. When you visit an online retailer, you will have the option to browse by product type, brand, most popular, alphabetically, by price, or by review rating. Ratings are typically on a scale of one to five stars, with five being the highest. Products that do not have stars by them may not necessarily indicate that they are of bad quality; it may simply mean no one has reviewed them as yet. While reviews are only singular opinions, they are also helpful in steering people who are unfamiliar with certain items in the appropriate direction. Generally speaking, good reviews will have all the basic information that indicates the basis for a rating, and will provide you with buying knowledge. When viewing home treadmill reviews, look for pro and cons on particular models, and the reasons behind each, as well as the product’s features, price, and availability. But do not stop there-it is best to read more than one review on the same product, to get a wide-based feel for it. Visit other retailers, if you have to. Even talk with a salesperson while inside a store, and hear what they have to say, and test-drive treadmills for yourself.

Once you have had experiences with treadmills, you will become your own authority. Use that power wisely by writing your own, description and honest home treadmill reviews. Most vendors will be glad to obtain feedback, whether you purchased through them or not.
