Buy New or Repair? The Availability of Trampoline Repair Parts

September 10, 2008 by Andy

Due to wear and tear and damage from UV rays, trampolines will need repair over the course of their life. Trampoline repair parts are available at a number of dealers in order to maintain the quality and safety of your trampoline. Trampoline repair parts include pads, mats and springs.

UV rays deteriorate the stitching on trampoline mats, causing the fabric to pull away from the v-rings. In this case, if the mat’s fabric is not compromised, the mat can be removed and shipped to a trampoline repair shop for re-stitching. If one of the rings has pulled completely out, it is important to repair it immediately. The loss of a v-ring puts added pressure on the other rings, and will cause higher repair bills in the long run. If you think that your mat simply needs repair or re-stitching rather than replacing, clean the mat first and then ship it, along with any v-rings or tabs you may have, to the repair shop where they will make a visual inspection and give you a cost estimate.

If your mat has been repaired more than once or has a hole larger than 1", it may be cheaper to replace the mat.

While replacing a trampoline mat and padding is recommended (some manufacturers recommend every four years), a trampoline mat patch kit is available at a fraction of the cost for more frequent repairs. Patches are not recommended, however, for holes larger than 1" in diameter. As a commercial sewing machine is needed to sew the heavy canvas of the trampoline mat, it is recommended that you send your mat to a repair shop even for patching.

Also available are weather covers to help protect your trampoline from sun, snow and rain. Anchors will help protect your trampoline from wind.
