Easy Treadmill Maintenance

To maintain proper maintenance on your treadmill you should apply treadmill belt lubricant. Treadmill belt lubricant has many benefits for the treadmill. It decreases friction on the belt and increases overall performance.

Clearco Silicone Treadmill Lubricant #50 helps maintain your treadmill. It will not gum up and is non-toxic. It also prevents more expensive repairs later. It is clear, odourless, and colourless and will not interrupt your exercising. Another recommended brand is Hyperglide. Hyperglide belt lubricant has a lifetime warranty and never has to be waxed.

To apply treadmill belt lubricant you will need to do the following. Most tubes of lubricant recommend using the entire tube. Lift the belt and apply the tube to the length of the walking area on one side then walk around the treadmill and repeat the same procedure on the other side. Do not apply any lubricant to the area you walk on. Start the treadmill at about 2 - 3 mph and let it run for about 5 minutes. Do not get on the treadmill during this step for safety reasons. Check the tension and centering of the belt before running on the treadmill.

If your treadmill belt stops working or will not advance to the correct speed, it may need lubricating. Try applying lubrication before getting a professional to look at your treadmill. The cost of the lubrication will be far less than getting maintenance performed on it. If problems still persist you will need to call for someone to take a look at it.
